With Gratitude for 2016

Executive Director and Co-Founder, Vivian Maley, reflects on what she is grateful for following another successful year of serving children of all abilities.

I have spent this year celebrating the gratitude I have for family, friends, and everything related to JMF.  Not one for conventional New Year resolutions, I wanted to try and capture a day of gratitude on Twitter (a new endeavor for me as I tried to navigate social media).  Most days it was easy, I have so much in my life I am grateful for, but being limited by the number of characters to express myself certainly had its challenges.

Now, as we are coming to the end of 2016, I have a better understanding of why most people take this time to enumerate the accomplishments of the year in one fell swoop.

So in keeping with my theme of gratitude here is my list as it relates to JMF.

As 2016 comes to a close and we usher in the New Year I am grateful for:

  1. Our extraordinary staff. They are group of men and women who live their passion and serve all children selflessly.
  2. Our Board.  True ambassadors of our mission.
  3. Seven programs under our umbrella. Each program serves children in a mindful, respectful way with acceptance of all at the core.
  4. A fantastic Junior Board.  Over 80 students across 12+ high schools.  Role models who have made service a part of their lives.
  5. The relationships that serve as our lifeblood at JMF, especially the schools we work with.
  6. Our community of nonprofits.  We are blessed in Indianapolis to have phenomenal organizations serving others.
  7. Our generous donors and sponsors.  Without them we could not focus on our work and see our dreams come to fruition.
  8. Our countless volunteers…words cannot describe all they do for JMF.
  9. My family. They are a constant support as we work in our Joseph’s name.
  10. The 26,000 children served this year.

It has been an exceptional year at the Joseph Maley Foundation. I am humbled with gratitude and excited to see what 2017 has in store for us.
