Legal Ethics in Special Education

Content: Thousands of Indiana students qualify for special education services. Many families struggle to navigate the complex maze of regulations. This course, tailored to ethical issues for attorneys guiding families in special education legal issues, addresses the following ethical issues:

  • Common Ethical Issues In Representing Students in Special Education Matters
    ● Attending Case Conferences
    ● Dealing with Unrepresented Persons
    ● Communication with Person Represented by Counsel
    ● Can You Tell Parents What to Say?
    ● Do We Know the School is Represented?
    ● What if you, the Lawyer, are the Parent?
    ● Duty to Report Suspected Child Abuse and/or Neglect

Cost: $45 or $15 for attorneys who commit to five hours of pro bono services through Joseph Maley Foundation’s Family Support program
