We’d like to introduce Jordan Kyle, one of the Joseph Maley Foundation’s newest board members. As an avid distance runner, and an assistant volunteer coach for Butler’s Men’s and Women’s cross country and track teams, Jordan sits on JMF’s 2019 Run, Walk, Roll committee. Keep reading to learn how Jordan came to find the Joseph Maley Foundation, and what he’s looking forward to achieving as a board member in 2019.
How did you come to find out about the Joseph Maley Foundation?
The distance running community in Indianapolis is particularly close, and one day a fellow runner told me about the Joseph Maley Foundation Run, Walk, Roll event. At the time I didn’t know anything about JMF, but I thought it would be worthwhile to help fundraise for the event. For 2018 Run, Walk, Roll I helped raise money for the Foundation, and look forward to doing so in 2019 and beyond.
Why did you join JMF’s Board of Directors?
I joined the JMF Board of Directors because I truly believe in JMF’s mission, “serving children of all abilities.” Our society needs to focus on acceptance and compassion, rather than stigma and prejudicial thoughts. JMF offers a way to improve the lives of children who have a disability, but to also to help educate all children on empathy, respect, and kindness.
What do you hope to accomplish as a board member?
As a board member I want to better the lives of individuals.. Additionally, I’d like to help raise significant funds for all of the JMF programs so they may continue to grow and support more and more children in the central Indiana area.
What is something about JMF that you think is unique?
JMF is unique because it brings together so many different individuals from so many walks of life.
You’re a new board member this year, and also a member of the 2019 Run, Walk, Roll committee – how would you describe these experiences so far?
To date, the committee meetings have been productive and interesting. As we prepare for the event this summer, it is great to see how everyone interacts to help advance the goals of the foundation.
Finally, what do you most look forward to for JMF in 2019?
I look forward to making a difference in people’s lives. In the process of doing this, I am excited to help raise money for the Foundation, learn from my colleagues, and hopefully complete a triathlon with one the Joseph Maley Fitness run2gether crew.
