Transition, Disability, and the Law

Content: This course provides guidance on the topic of students with disabilities as they transition from school to their adult lives, working and participating in their communities, employment and/or postsecondary education. Topics include:

  • What Are Transition Services?
  • Indiana Guardianship Law and the Least Restrictive Alternative
  • Vocational Rehabilitation
  • Higher Education Accommodations – Section 504 and ADA Title II and III
  • SSI and Medicaid
  • Other Transition Resources
  • Practical Tips for Helping Students and Parents Navigate Transition 

Speaker: Mary Elizabeth Ford, Barnes & Thornburg, Associate

Cost: $45, or $15 for attorneys who commit to five hours of pro bono services through Joseph Maley Foundation’s Family Support program.
